Annual savings come from three sources: labor (70% reduction, saving ~$10,000), feed waste reduction (5–10% saving, ~$2,700–$5,400), and medication/mortality improvement (~$1,500). Total annual savings range from $14,200 to $16,900.

Feed savings alone account for 19–32% of total annual savings. More importantly, feed is the largest operational cost (60–70% of production expenses). Cutting feed waste by just 5% translates directly into bottom‑line profit.

Using a payback calculation: equipment cost $15,000, annual feed saving $4,000 (midpoint). If only labor savings existed, payback would be 15 months. With feed savings added, payback drops to 11 months. Thus, feed savings shorten the payback period by 4 months or 27%.

For farms with higher feed prices ($500/ton) or more waste (10%), feed contribution reaches 40% of total savings, reducing payback to under 9 months. Feed savings are not just a bonus—they are a decisive factor in making automation financially irresistible.
